| The
hotel |
|
Bluebay is one of the
newest hotels on the island. They are fairly large with all the
activities. The let down of Bluebay is their close proximity to all other
hotels in the Kiwengwa area. An absolutely awesome stretch of beach
unfortunately houses some 5 large hotels and Bluebay is almost in the
middle of them. That being said, the hotel is fantastic. Run and owned by hoteliers from Kenya, they have really got
the hotel business together. The rooms are tastefully decorated in an East
African style with all the room facilities you may want. The rooms are all
situated away from the sea in bungalow style, but they all have sea views.
The food is prepared by their French chef, who really knows how to prepare a good meal. The
service is impeccable with staff literally smiling at you all the time.
The water facilities are all state of the art and they probably have the
most hi-tech boat on Zanzibar which they use to take the guests out
diving.

| The
rooms |
The hotel has 88 rooms all
facing the sea. They are divided into deluxe and superior rooms. The deluxe rooms have a
larger lounge and verandah. All rooms have
television, en-suite
facilities, air conditioning, telephones, mini-bars, ceiling fans and hair
dryers. The beds are a bit strange. They are all three quarter size beds,
so either you have to squash onto one bed, or you and your partner have to
sleep in separate beds. They are very comfortable if you are sleeping on
your own. The interiors are well
decorated in an East African and blue theme.
