Zambezi Waterfront is a fabulous holiday spot right on the banks of the Zambezi River. It is only about 4km upstream from the Victoria Falls and you can see the spray in the distance. The property is easily accessible by car and only a few minutes drive from Livingstone Town.
The resort is great for independent travellers who like to do their own thing instead of following a set itinerary of activities. Their Adventure Centre is set up to handle just about any kind of booking, from an elephant back safari to a hot air balloon trip over the falls, a bungee jump off the Victoria Bridge or a fly-fishing trip on the Zambezi.
The accommodation is really great. They have lovely cabin-like houses right on the river, as well as some spread out over the green property. They even have a small stream running right past the houses, with a cool bridge between them and the public areas. We actually saw a crocodile basking in the sun, within meters of our house (but don't worry ' they stay on their side). We also spotted quite a few monkeys and their babies all over the property. While they are a bit playful and might steal a slice of toast here and there ' they generally keep to themselves while making for great entertainment. The river-view rooms have great verandas with sturdy wooden chairs where you can spend quite a lot of time just relaxing.
The resort has a beautiful central dining area on raised decks that overlooks the Zambezi, with great views both up and down river. The Waterfront's restaurant, bar, curio shop, Adventure Centre and one of its two pools are all situated here, making it a great chill-out spot for guests. They also have a beautiful rock pool next to their Croc and Paddle Bar (a little further off) - another popular 'watering hole' for thirsty guests.
All the amenities at the Waterfront are spotlessly clean and easily accessible. The staff are superb and really go out of their way to ensure your comfort. The place has a great vibe to it and it is easy to understand why it is popular all year round.
The Zambezi Waterfront is a very relaxed, informal resort for people who don't want to be dictated to. Here you can plan your own adventures and do as much, or as little as you like, without any pressure or distractions. The atmosphere is great and the surroundings are beautiful. We highly recommend this one!!!
The chalets are quite big and ideal if you like to lounge around the room, enjoy the peace and quiet and relax without worrying about time and responsibilities. There are 16 rooms that come equipped with mosquito nets, fans, wooden furniture and en-suite bathrooms with nice, big showers. The bedding is made of lovely cool cotton and makes for a fabulous night's sleep.
Six of the rooms are practically on the river while the remainder is situated amongst the greenery of the property. The rooms come equipped with coffee and tea stations, private verandas and nice wooden chairs.
There are also three Executive Rooms and four Family Rooms available for guests with additional needs.
The Zambezi Waterfront has a central dining complex that houses the restaurant and an open-air bar, as well as the curio shop and a great mosaic plunge pool. The complex overlooks the Zambezi (both up and down river) and the views are great. The restaurant offers meals from burgers and toasted treats to stir fry, steak and salads. We really liked their Lebanese Chicken special. The service is simply superb and the waiters' smiles contagious.
Breakfast is served buffet style with cereals, fruit salad and yoghurt as well as hot dishes such as bacon and eggs. The waiters serve juice at your table.
The bar is a great get-together spot and you can sit on the deck overlooking the river while sipping on a refreshing drink and at night it really comes alive.
You can also book a cruise and dinner combination on their own river boat. This includes snacks such as roasted peanuts, free drinks and a fairly simple dinner ' but the views of the river and its inhabitants, combined with the great staff make the cruise well worth it!.
