Situated in the middle of the NamibRand Nature Reserve are the many different Wolwedans resorts. All of the camps provide their guests with the best opportunity to experience Namibia, Africa’s beautiful nature and wilderness, as well as the many animals that call this part of the world home. While each resort in the Wolwedans’ family offers guests individual attention, warmth and personality, they are all unique in their settings on the reserve and give a chance for the guests to get closer to nature than ever before.
Wolwedans is located within the NamibRand nature reserve and is about 20 kilometers from the reserve’s main gate. Guests who are planning on driving from places such as Windhoek will need to hire a four-wheel drive vehicle as many of the roads are gravel and dirt. The Boulder’s Safari Camp is located 45 kilometers south of the main Wolwedans’ Dune Lodge, the main reception area for all of the Wolwedans accommodations. Children are welcome; however, they are the responsibility of the parents and no type of babysitting service will be provided. They are expected to be well-behaved.
The Boulder Safari Camp is the newest addition to the Wolwedans’ family and it is nestled at the bottom of a granite boulder mountain. It can accommodate up to eight guests at one time and the rooms are situated around the main lodge area. The main lodge is a large wooden deck that contains a lounge tent and dining room tent. A large open fire place is set off to one side of the deck and it is used to serve breakfast outdoors. There is also another area of the deck that has been set up specifically for sundowners. A small library with leather seating and communal table in the dining room finishes off the lodge’s ambience.
There are four large tents at Boulders Safari Camp. Each tent is located on a raised wooden deck and is equipped with canvas walls that can be drawn up or down as desired. All of the tents have an outstanding view of the landscape and the wildlife that live there. The four tents are equipped with the following: four poster bed; mosquito netting; dressing table; luggage chest; seating; built-in deck benches; loungers; cushioned stools; shower; flush toilet; wash basin; bathrobes; toiletries; and lotions.
Boulders Safari Camp is a full board establishment that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals are prepared fresh at the camp and offer authentic African cuisine. Drinks are included but specialty and premium brands must be ordered ahead of time and paid for locally.
Guests to the Boulders Safari Camp will enjoy a wide range of activities that center around the scenery and wildlife that live on the reserve. The lodge offers a full day driving safari that includes a picnic lunch or half day excursions for those guests who want to enjoy the camp as well. There are also many hiking opportunities available for guests as well. Unfortunately, due to the location of the Boulder Safari Camp guests will not be able to enjoy any of the scenic flight or hot air ballooning excursions offered by Wolwedans.
