Villas de Mer are found on the west coast of Praslin, with views of Cousin and Cousine Islands. Villas de Mer are new locations for guests to stay at. They are situated on one of the island’s longest beaches providing plenty of swimming, sunbathing, and beach activities.
Praslin is the second largest island in the Seychelles, with a population of 6,500 people. Much of the population remains on the west coast, though there are small villages spread throughout the 38 square kilometers of the island. The Seychelles have 115 islands, with only a partial amount of them populated. The largest island and most vacationers beginning point is Mahe Island. Mahe Island has the only international airport in the archipelago. The island is 40 kilometers south of Praslin allowing for forty- five minute ferry rides or fifteen minute plane rides to the island.
Guests can reach the “Garden of Eden” on Praslin called the Vallee de Mai. This forest is home to the rare Black Parrot, coco de mer palm trees and other ancient vegetation. From the island trips can be booked to see Aride, La Digue, and Curieuse Islands.

Villas de Mer has 10 mini suites with sea views. Seven of the suites are in three of the villas, while the others are in three plantation style houses. The suites are eco friendly with a blend of local colors and materials. The ten mini suites have sitting areas, private terraces, mini bars, ventilators, air conditioning, tea/ coffee makers, hair dryers and en-suite bathrooms. Each suite can accommodate two adults and up to two children.
Dining at Villas de Mer includes the sea view restaurant managed by Lydia Lablache. The restaurant has Creole and European cuisine providing fish, snacks, and salads for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is a casual affair with indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the villas have kitchenettes for self catering facilities.
Water sports and excursions are part of the activities guests can take part in while staying at Villas de Mer. The hotel is willing to set up any sport or excursion guests might like to enjoy such as deep sea fishing, snorkeling, or tours of nearby islands. Scuba diving is one of the main attractions to the Indian Ocean Seychelles. The islands were built on granite and coral, making the dive spots unique. Free transportation to the dive centers is possible through the hotel in order to get divers set up with gear for beach or boat dives. Boat dives bring guests to the marine national parks for protected diving. Divers can expect to be in 30 feet of water surrounded by tropical fish, reef sharks, sea turtles and many other marine mammals.
The beaches on Praslin are some of the most well kept because seaweed is removed daily to keep the beaches clean, especially during Monsoon season. Guests can get transport to the various beaches on Praslin like Anse Volbert and Anse Lazio.
Villa de Mer is five minutes from Lemuria Hotel, which has the island’s only golf course. The course offers 18-holes to play with a variety of challenges and sea views to keep guests entertained.
For those who want to rent a car or take public transportation, Vallee de Mai can be seen. Vallee de Mai is a small ancient forest with coco de mer palm trees and Takamaka trees. The main exhibit in the forest is the chance to spot rare Black Parrots.
Location: Villas de Mer are on the west coast of Praslin near the Cote D’or Beach and Vallee de Mai. They are also in the center of Grand Anse, 40 kilometers from Mahe Island.
