A visit to Village du Pecheur places guests on the east coast of Praslin, where the Cote D’or Beach is found. Praslin is the second largest island, with Mahe Island being the main and largest island in the Seychelles archipelago. The island system consists of 115 islands, most of which are not inhabited. Praslin, Mahe, and La Digue are most popular for their activities, scenery, and proximity to each other. Praslin is known for its Vallee de Mai national forest. The forest has historical vegetation, having grown for several centuries like the coco de mer palm trees. The forest is also known for its Black Parrot population. The Islands of La Digue and Aride have a vast colony of birds as well. Wright’s Gardenia can be found on both these islands, though it cannot be picked as it is protected. Guests can dive off the shores of St. Pierre and Coco Islands or snorkel right off the beach at Village Du Pecheur.
Village Du Pecheur offers 10 luxury ocean view rooms, 4 junior suites, and 5 standard rooms. The standard rooms do not have sea views and are located in a separate building. All of the rooms are furnished with safes, tea and coffee makers, mini bar, terrace or balcony, and mosquito netting. As part of the room amenities guests will find television, air conditioning, hair dryers, IDD telephones, nightly turndown services, and room service.
The Coco de Mer Lounge, Bar and Restaurant serves dinner each evening. Guests will have a view of the beach, with indoor and outdoor seating possible. Menu items are Creole and International in origins. There is a dress code for gentlemen, meaning they have to wear trousers after 19:00. Guests can come with bare feet though.
Leisure activities on and around Praslin offer a plethora of adventures for guests looking to relax during their vacation. One might start out the day with long walks on the beach at Village du Pecheur. Guests can also grab snorkeling equipment from the hotel. The equipment is free of charge for guests as long as they keep to the beach. Diving adventures can be set up through the hotel if guests want to go right off the beach or even take a boat trip to one of the many marine national parks in the Seychelles.
Diving is an exciting pastime with coral reefs, sea turtles, reef shark, and other marine life. The depths are rather shallow, making these spots perfect for snorkeling. If diving and snorkeling is not on the main activity schedule guests can book fishing charters. Deep sea fishing will net several types of fish, which can be cooked at the hotel.
The village shops and curios allow guests to experience the different cultures found on the island, all the while finding souvenirs to bring home to their children or friends. Many of the shops carry hand crafted items not found anywhere else. Car tours will bring guests around the island to the various shops.
The Mary Mary is available for boat charters to the other islands, as well as an overnight stay. Guests can book lunch to go with the boat charter.
Location: Village du Percheur is located on the east coast of Praslin, 40 kilometers from Mahe Island. Cote D’or Beach is within walking distance of the hotel.
