Set on a high plateau that forms the boundary of the unfenced Zambezi National Park, the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is four kilometers from the beautiful and awe inspiring Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. It is considered a deluxe African lodge that offers guests excellent uninterrupted views of the national park and easy access to the Victoria Falls. Designed with thatch roofs, hardwoods and vibrant colors, guests to this lodge will enjoy everything at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.
The main lodge building faces a waterhole that offers guests numerous sightings of the wildlife as they pass through the area into the wild bushveld. The resort is built around the existing trees and natural African landscape and the owners and staff are extremely eco-friendly, caring about their environment and the animals that live on it. The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is well known for hospitality, food and views as well as their safari excursions and attention to detail. The Lodge even has handicapped services available, making it the perfect getaway for all members of the family.
The lodge welcomes children of all ages although there are limitations on the age when it comes to venturing out on a safari. Additionally, parents are reminded to keep a close eye on their children as the wildlife does and will wander through the lodge’s property. The weather in this part of Africa is temperate, when guests should bring summer clothing with them including a light weight jacket or jersey for the chilly morning and evenings. Sandals are fine for walking around the lodge, but guests who intend on partaking of bush walks should bring comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots. A swim suit, insect repellant, sun hat, lip balm, sunglasses and sun block are also recommended.
Business travelers looking for a unique venue for their conferences can utilize the open air amphitheater conference center that can seat 200 people or the Indaba Conference Room in the main lodge that can seat a maximum of 120 people depending on the seating configuration. There are also two boardrooms, a classroom, and three breakaway rooms at the lodge that can be used for meetings as well as wedding receptions and banquets.
The Victoria Falls in which the lodge is named for is a short distance from the resort itself. It is a 1700 meter wide basalt lip that plunges the waters of the Zambezi River 100 meters into a chasm below. It has been named the world’s largest sheet of falling water. Daredevils enjoy white water rafting and river boating the rapids that start immediately downstream from the falls and many people take advantage of the 111 meter high Victoria Falls Bridge to bungee jump from. The entire area was only discovered in 1855 by David Livingstone, and the population around the falls is still sparse with less than 200 permanent residents.
Guests at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge can enjoy a wide range of rooming options. There are 72 well appointed rooms at the lodge and all of them face the African bushveld for spectacular views all day long. The rooms are decorated in natural fabrics and African themed décor and include the following amenities standard: en-suite bathroom with separate shower; air conditioning; ceiling fans; binoculars; customized toiletries; insect repellent; sun block; extra length twin, double or king size beds; wooden concertina shutters; glass doors; private balcony; coffee and tea making service; nature books; hairdryers; mosquito netting; mosquito pads; rooms safes; and direct dial telephone.
