The Travellers Beach Hotel is a well-appointed 4 star coastal hotel, set on 6.5 acres of beachfront property on the North Coast of Mombasa, Kenya. The resort is close to both Moi and Mombasa Airports and easily reached by road.
The first thing we saw as we approached the hotel was the freeform and terraced swimming pool that runs from the entrance right through to the lounge, opposite the beachfront. This is one of four pools that form the main features of the hotel, winding scenically between the main buildings and the well kept gardens.
The hotel is family-owned and opened its doors back in 1987. Since then it has grown to become one of Kenyas premier hotels. Guests at Travellers have direct access to the immaculate sandy beach, only a few metres away. A great way to enjoy the cool waters is by hiring a boat and going on one of the custom deep sea game fishing trips. Kenya is known for its billfish, especially the Sailfish and of course the three varieties of Marlin (Black, Blue and Striped). Other prize catches include Wahoo, YellowfinTuna, Dorado, vast varieties of shark as well as the elusive Shortbill Spearfish. They have a policy of tag and release (only on billfish) but will let you keep any trophy fish you manage to hook.
The area is also great for scuba diving, with a barrier coral reef approximately a kilometre off-shore. If you're interested but inexperienced, the hotels team of qualified diving instructors offer a solution. They'll start you off in the diving pool and take you out into the ocean when you're ready.
The hotel has 4 restaurants to choose from, with meal styles ranging from Indian, Italian, seafood and game. They also have 5 bars, 2 of which are situated by the poolside (now you never have to leave the cooling waters) and an underground night club called the Show Boat - where live bands, local entertainers, cabaret stars, traditional dancers and acrobats entertain guests into the small hours of the night.
The hotel also offers tons of sports including tennis, windsurfing, snorkelling, squash as well as a fully equipped gym complete with sauna, Jacuzzi and massage parlour. And if you prefer to do as little as possible, their free-to-use sunloungers, towels and umbrellas will make your retreat from lifes distractions even more comfortable.
Travellers Beach Hotel is a really laid-back, relaxed resort with a good balance of activities and relaxation options. Youre sure to leave this place with charged batteries and great holiday memories.

The Travellers Beach Hotel has four great on-site restaurants.
The Suli Suli Grill is laid-back and informal. They are known for their good seafood and game dishes and even have some interesting offerings such as their grilled crocodile steaks.
The hotel’s main restaurant is called Shibe and overlooks the pretty gardens surrounding the pools, while La Pergola Pizzeria and Pasta Bar offers some great Italian dishes. And for fine Indian cuisine we recommend the Sher-e-Punjab Indian restaurant.
For those with a sweet tooth, there’s the Vunja Joto ice-cream parlour offering great cool-down treats.
