The hotel

Tarangire Sopa is situated on the eastern side of the Tarangire National Park opposite Tarangire Hill. It is a large resort type hotel offering a variety of facilities. The outbuildings really look strange when you arrive as the roof sort of sweeps down to the floor. When you enter though it is a different story! The view from the lodge is spectacular, overlooking part of the Tarangire Hill. The hotel is a member of a large group so you are assured of any Western comforts. As it is inside the National Park, you are unable to partake in any outdoor activities, except for the use of the pool area. Therefore if you are wanting to be closer to nature at night, then it is not for you.

The rooms

The hotel has 75 rooms all containing twin queen size beds. The decor is plain but pleasant. All rooms have a small lounge in the front portion, but we could not see why anyone would  want to use it as they have a veranda which provides for far better relaxation. Some of the rooms in this hotel however are not particularly great. Situated almost in a "basement" they are not particularly attractive. Therefore if requesting to stay here, avoid rooms 9 to 35. The rest of the rooms are great. All bathrooms are en suite and have bidets and hair dryers for guests.
