Tanzania has a surface area of 94.3 million ha. of which 23% has been allocated
to reserves, National Parks and forest reserves. This is a country that is
serious about protecting it's inheritance. The parks are operated and managed by
TANAPA (Tanzanian National Parks Association) with the help of many
international organisations. The Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro
Conservation Area have been granted World Heritage Status, which shows their
dedication to their wildlife. Strong measures are taken
against poachers although thgis does not seem to deter them. Rhino and elephant
numbers in the country are still relatively low, but steadily on the increase.
