Mumbo Island, Malawi is a pristine and “deserted” tropical island, and the undisputed jewel of the Lake, Malawi National Park. Mumbo Island has never been populated, and is still in its natural state with a thick covering of miombo woodland and ancient fig and baobab trees.

Mvuu Wilderness Lodge, Malawi, is nestled discreetly on the banks of a lagoon just off the Shire River. The main lounge area is set high above the water and offers wonderful views. Mvuu means "hippo" in Tonga, many of these water-loving mammals can be seen floating in the river.
