About Princess Bora Lodge

Nestled amongst a grove of coconut palms and facing a picturesque Indian Ocean lagoon is the Princess Bora Lodge. The 15 villas, each denoted by the figurine of a different tropical fish, were created in harmony with the surrounding land and gardens. This shows true love and respect for the island and its flora and fauna.

Francois-Xavier Mayer, who is dedicated to preserving the island's culture and heritage, owns and runs the Princess Bora Lodge. In fact, his family has been living on the island since the 1790s, a time when pirates sailed the waters. The pirates cemetery is still on the island, and is a fun place for history buffs to visit.

The Princess Bora Lodge always has something fun or relaxing for its guests. The white sand beach is always a hit with guests, whether they want to swim, walk along the shore, or bathe in the sun. Guests can even walk out onto the wooden pontoon that is in the lagoon to get closer to the water without ever getting wet. Snorkelers and Divers will have a great time exploring the coral reefs and getting up close and personal with some of the sea life, including turtles and dolphins.

During the months of July, August, and September, humpback whales are quite often visible from the beach. There are even boat tours to take guests closer, should they wish to get a better look at the magnificent creatures.

This is a great place for honeymooning couples, people who have been together for years, friends, and entire families. There is truly something for everyone on this veritable island paradise.

The Rooms

The look of the villas is inspired by the local architecture and they are built from Madagascar wood.
The Luxury villas are a treat to stay in, and include a large wooden terrace, beautiful decor, large comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms with a separate WC, and ventilator, as well as individual closets and air conditioning.

The Comfort villas, which are mostly open to take advantage of the island's beauty also have large beds, spacious bathrooms, a separate WC, and a ventilator.

Dining

Everyone on the island knows that the restaurant at the Princess Bora Lodge serves some of the finest food available. The menu is varied, weaving together flavors of Creole, Malagasy, and French influence. The fresh seafood and zebu meat are particularly popular among the guests as are the French and South African wines.
Although the bartenders are talented enough to make just about any drink you can imagine, the specialty at the Lodge is rum aged in oak barrels. The drinks are great for watching the sunset and then relaxing beneath the moon and stars.
