Located near Namibia’s Fish River Canyon and many other main attractions the country offers is the area known as Gondwana. Gondwana is the home of the Kalahari, Sossusvlei, Etosha National Park, the Namib, Twyfelfontein and of course, Fish River Canyon. Each of these areas of the country offers guests a different look at Namibia as they all have their own unique characters that combine together to make this country what it is.
Determining what to see will depend on the individual as they explore this country. The central northern part of Namibia offers visitors the Etosha National Park. The park is filled with native animals such as elephant, rhino, zebra, giraffe, lion, leopard and antelope. It is the perfect place to enjoy a safari drive. The south of Namibia is where visitors can explore the many towering dunes of the desert or see the wild horses that roam the Namib. Fish River Canyon is a must for anyone that visits the country as is the Gondwana Four Desert Tour.
The Namib Desert Lodge is located 60 kilometers north of Sesriem and is in the Gondwana Namib Park, bordering Namib Naukluft Park. The main building has a large reception area with a curio shop and there are walkways that lead to the rooms through the resorts garden.
There are 68 rooms at the Namib Desert Lodge and each of them has private verandas. All of the rooms are en-suite with a shower and they are all non-smoking. All of the rooms have an electronic safe, fans, and mosquito netting.
Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Namib Desert Lodge. Breakfast is a buffet while lunch is light fare that is announced every day. Afternoon tea is served at the resort and dinner is a three course meal of international and traditional cuisine.
The Namib Desert Lodge is located at the edge of the fossil dunes and guests can enjoy a sunset drive to the top of the dunes for sundowners or a sunrise drive to see the first rays of the day. Both drives include drinks and snacks. There are walking trails at the lodge. One of the trails is a guided walk and it takes about three hours to complete. Because the Namib Desert Lodge welcomes children, there is a shorter walking trail available designed for parents and children to enjoy.
Guests who wish to remain at the lodge for the day can enjoy sundowners at the bar or relax in the swimming pool.
