El Gouna is a self contained resort town on the coast of the Red Sea in the country of Egypt, covering 10 kilometres of beach that spans islands and lagoons. In addition to the spa amenities of the Movenpick resort, guests can enjoy an 18 hole championship golf course, marina, thriving nightlife and unique desert experiences such as quad bike rides, sand buggy rides and even camel rides.
The resort boasts 554 rooms in eight clusters that overlook the sea, the lagoons, or the manicured and lush gardens. There are rooms for smokers available as well as rooms designed for the handicapped and physically challenged.
The deluxe, duplex family and superior rooms offer guests two single beds or a single king size bed and the basic amenities include air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms with showers, hairdryers, cable television, coffee and tea makers, high speed Internet access, telephones, minibars, and a balcony, lanai, or terrace. The standard rooms offer the same amenities minus the coffee and tea facilities. The deluxe suites feature a king size bed and includes all of the above amenities as well as a sofa corner, dining table, large balcony or terrace overlooking the Red Sea, walk-in wardrobe, shower-bathtub combination, bidet, and hairdryer. The Presidential Suite features all of the basic amenities as the other rooms in addition to a four poster bed, CD player, walk-in wardrobe, balcony and elevated office desk area. It also has a decorated lounge for entertaining and a private pool.
For families there is the Lagoon Villa located near the spa. There are four individual bedrooms with private bath, living room, and kitchenette. It has a large terrace that provides private access to the lagoon by pedal boat or canoe. All of the standard features are included, and the villa can accommodate an extra bed for an additional charge.
The resort offers guests six different places to eat at. The Palavrion serves an international breakfast, lunch, and evening cuisine meals that the Movenpick resort chain is known for. The El Sayadin features Oriental and seafood dishes. The Oasis bar and Lagoon pool restaurant and bar offer guests light snacks, lunch, and drinks. Il Limone serves Mediterranean dishes in an ala carte menu. Bua Khao offers Thai cuisine, and Café Vienna offers live music in the evening in an open cosy lounge and terrace environment.
The resort offers guests all of the amenities of the resort town of El Gouna as well as four freshwater swimming pools, three children’s pools, and diving centre that includes kite and windsurfing opportunities. The resort offers squash and tennis courts, table tennis and other land and table games. There is a health club that includes a gym, Jacuzzi, massage and sauna services as well as the Angsana Spa. There is also an 18 hole golf course available for guests to enjoy. Many of the activities available are through the resort town services themselves and include additional locally paid fees.
