The hotel

The private reserve of VAKONA leads you around a lake where forty crocodiles live freely, you'll meet Kovu and Nala, two Fosas (endemic carnivores of Madagascar, predators of Lemurs) you'll admire parrots, ostriches, aquatic birds; you'll shiver in the sight of boas and will scratch the neck of tortoises. Situated in the middle of the primary forest, the reserve has sometimes the joy to be visited by groups of wild Lemurs, parrots and lots of birds having nested along the pathways… Listen to your senses and go on a walk in search of chameleons, lemurs, crab spiders and frogs indigenous to Madagascar.

The rooms

The design of the bungalows has been conceived in the respect of the local Malagasy architecture and in harmony with its environment. Each of the ten family bungalows with mezzanine and the fourteen double rooms has its own terrace with an outside little verandah. In your request twin beds can be exchanged into double beds. A bathroom with warm water, individual toilets, a personal safety deposit box and a mini-bar are in all the rooms. VAKONA FOREST LODGE has paid a lot of attention to the decoration of its bungalows because after enjoying a fine day, what can be more agreeable than being in a cozy place?

Dining

A centre fire place opened at 300° is the principal support of this splendid room. Situated in the middle of the hotel, the restaurant gives you a constant view outside, unless you prefer the terrace overhanging the lake. This restaurant has interesting and a nice variety of meals, mixing French, Chinese and of course Malagasy dishes that will satisfy everyone’s needs
