La Reserve Hotel is most definitely a family hotel located on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles archipelago. The Seychelles are comprised of 115 islands. The largest of these islands is Mahe, 40 kilometers to the south of Praslin. Praslin is the second largest island in terms of area and population. Praslin is a mixture of Creole culture and British. Guests will feel the Creole décor, artists’ paintings and surrounding tropical views are relaxing.
Guests of La Reserve Hotel can enjoy Anse Petit Cour, a part of the marine national park around Praslin. There is an exclusive beach with a coral reef protected by the government. The coral reef is also protected by the island allowing for gentle waters where guests can swim or snorkel.
Visitors to La Reserve Hotel may wish to obtain a boat charter to visit the other islands surrounding them, like La Digue. La Digue is a beautiful island with its own merits including a 300 meter mountain for hiking. To reach La Reserve Hotel guests will either have to fly or take a ferry from Mahe Island. Mahe Island has the only international airport in the Seychelles. The flight is fifteen minutes in length, while the ferry is forty- five minutes. The ferry system allows visitors to the Seychelles to reach populated islands.
La Reserve Hotel boasts 40 rooms, which all have Indian Ocean Views. These luxury accommodations each have individually unique décor allowing them to be personalized and relaxing for all guests. The rooms have artists’ paintings on the walls, wood flooring, and king size four poster beds. The wooden furniture along with the amenities makes the rooms comfortable.
There are two sizes of rooms: deluxe and superior. 32 deluxe rooms have walk in showers, sunken baths, and en-suite bathrooms. Lounge and sofa chairs, air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar, in-room safe, IDD telephone, tea and coffee maker, satellite TV, hair dryer, and terraces are part of the deluxe rooms. There are 8 superior rooms set on the hillside of Praslin, with direct access to the beach. These rooms have the same amenities except for the sunken bath. The bathrooms have shower only along with toilet and bidet.
Dining at La Reserve Hotel is varied with the Jetty Restaurant, Pool Restaurant, and Bars. The Jetty serves dinner while guests overlook the bay and anchored yachts. There is a natural aquarium below with fish caught fresh daily for the menu items. The menu is international cuisine. The restaurant also has an open kitchen for guests to watch the chef prepare the meals.
The Pool Restaurant will deliver meals straight to your pool chaise lounge. Fresh grilled meats, salad, and international dishes are all available for lunch on an a la carte menu style. The Main Bar, Beach Bar and Pool Bar present plenty of opportunity to relax with an island cocktail whether it is in a beach chair or pool chair.
Activities abound on Praslin Island with four main options: Cultural Events, Nature Walks, the Vallee De Mai, and Snorkeling or kayaking. Cultural events range from dances and live music to traditional festivals of Africa, Asia and Europe. Guests are meant to learn about the cultures and heritage of Praslin and the Seychelles.
Nature walks are possible in Vallee De Mai, the island forest. This small forest houses a number of trees including coco de mer palm trees. It is also home to the rare black parrot. A variety of plant and animal species can be found within the forest. Nature walks can also be found on other parts of the island. Curieuse Island is known for their nature walks.
