Indian Ocean Beach Club

Indian Ocean Beach Club

This very laid back place is ideally located just off Diani Beach near the Tiwi River estuary on one of Mombasa ’s finest beaches. The hotel’s beachfront is 700m long, palm fringed with magnificent powder white beaches and typical Indian Ocean tropical waters. The place feels like a little village next to the ocean and has a very laid back atmosphere. Guests are welcomed on arrival in their casual entrance by friendly staff with welcome drinks and a cold towel to help alleviate the heat. From the minute you arrive you are made to feel welcome and at home. The hotel is medium sized and spread nicely spaced over 25 acres of ground. They have built the place so guests do not have the feeling of living on top of each other. The rooms are scattered around the gardens and they have 4 plunge pools strategically located around the premises. No matter where you are, if you are hot, there is a pool close by. Added to that they have a main pool area almost on the beach, where you can relax and soak up the stunning views. The management and staff are fantastic, always welcoming and friendly. Their general manager, Lucy Karume, is a friendly very likeable person, and her style of management can be felt throughout. The hotel is privately located, and we really like the fact that guests do not have that feeling of living on top of each other, or on top of any neighboring hotels. Added to this, the following watersports are for free: Catamaran, windsurfing, two windsurfing lessons, pedaloe, boogie boards and two scuba diving lessons.

The rooms
Indian Ocean Beach Club has 100 rooms, divided into Club Rooms and Ocean Front Rooms. There are 75 Club Rooms and 25 Ocean Front Rooms. The rooms are spacious and located in 27 double story detached units scattered around the property. There are 4 rooms per unit, 2 downstairs and 2 upstairs. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable with a definite East African feel. All rooms are luxurious without being pretentious and include air conditioning, telephone, television with satellite connection and a minibar. The bathrooms are en-suite with a shower and bath. All bathrooms include hairdryers. All rooms have a front verandah and large glass doors opening out on to the garden or balcony, depending on what type of room you are in. The dιcor is a dark wood, and if in a double, a lovely queen size bed.

The rooms can be made up into double, twin or triple, depending on what is required.
