This is the most absolutely fabulous place in the entire Mombasa area. Their motto is quite simply to please relax, this is your home.
Run and owned by a very laid back Kenyan couple John and Lulu. What we like so much about the place is that it is definitely a home away from home. When arriving you are greeted by their 2 dogs and 4 cats which immediately makes you feel at home and very welcome. The house was originally bought by Lulu’s grandfather as a holiday home and it has stayed in their family ever since.
The main old house consists of the lounge and dining areas and just oozes charm. Big floppy sofas, plenty of books and Kenyan artifacts embellish the place. What we found absolutely amazing is that they don’t even have a barman! Guests are encouraged to help themselves from the bar and then complete the “conscience book” with what they have taken. This is the first time ever we have encountered this and absolutely love the concept. A simple principle of trust, and the best part it you don’t feel ripped off by their booze prices when you leave.
Fishermen are welcome as John is very enthusiastic about his fishing and will gladly take clients out (you will have to pay for it though). Other than the fishing, it is a place to come and chill out, get away from the crowds and relax. The beach is very private and a maximum of 12 guests at any one time ensure that you will enjoy a fantastic private holiday. Diving and snorkeling can be arranged for you as well as any other excursions you might want to undertake.
We absolutely love the place, it is intimate, good atmosphere and definitely highly recommended. Book early though as space is always limited.

rooms |

There are only 4 spacious and comfortable rooms which can accommodate a maximum of 12 people. The rooms are decorated as you would find in any very cozy house. All are individually furnished in a kind of African cottage way with pleasant colourful bed spreads, African curios and other arty decorations. All the rooms are en suite with ceiling fans, own verandah, great views and home feel. They have one family room, which has an additional upstairs room with bunk beds and a shared bathroom. All rooms look out on to the gardens and ocean.
