The hotel is situated in the center of Stone Town just off Kenyatta Road. Definitely the better of the budget hotels. This hotel is tastefully furnished in true Oriental and Zanzibari Style.The rooms are luxurious and for a budget place and the service is surprisingly good. A new addition to the hotel is a rooftop restaurant which allows diners a panoramic view over the top of Stone Town. Having breakfast on the roof is definitely a highlight of the day. As with the Tembo Hotel, Dhow Palace does not serve alcohol to patrons. There are many pubs located close by so this should be no cause for worry. As a budget place, it comes recommended. Dhow Palace is a smaller hotel with only 17 rooms. All rooms have very interesting bathrooms, telephones, mini-bar, hairdryer, air conditioner, television and hot water geyser. The rooms are tastefully furnished and well maintained. We popped in unannounced in the quiet season, and the rooms were clean and already made up. We were notably impressed. Breakfast in the newly built restaurant on the rooftop is a treat. This open-walled restaurant is furnished with dark wood tables and regal red-backed chairs. It serves a variety of seafood, as well as local and international cuisine. You have panoramic views over Stone Town to the ocean. In keeping with strict Muslim law, alcohol is not served at this hotel. You can satisfy your thirst in one of the pubs a short distance down the road. The Dhow does not have many facilities, except for the fact that you can walk down the road and use the pool facilities at Tembo Hotel. The hotel is centrally situated, so any facilities you may want will be found close by.
