Located on the highest hill in the city of Aswan, the Basma Hotel affords guests a breathtaking view of the Nile River valley and the city of Aswan proper. The local markets and bazaars range from traditional to modern and guests will enjoy the wide range of trinkets and souvenirs that can be found there. From ancient artifacts to jewelry to handmade pottery, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally the hotel is a great place for business travelers who are looking for an exotic location to hold their meetings. Their Conference Room is in the modular style and it can easily be arranged to meet the guests’ needs. It can accommodate 180 people and it includes the latest sound and light systems on the market. There is also a business center that is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week with photocopying, faxing, translation, document binding and other business services for guests to use.

Rooms

The Basma Hotel Aswan offers guests a choice of 189 rooms that are divided between standard guestrooms and suites. All of the rooms are equipped with the following standard amenities: en-suite sunken bath and shower cubicles; mini bar; irons and ironing boards; IDD telephones; air conditioning; color television with in room movies; radio; trouser press; and private balconies. All of the rooms have swimming pool views and are decorated in colorful appointments.

Dining

Dining is an experience at the Basma Hotel Aswan where you have a choice of dining at the resort or while taking a lunchtime cruise on a traditional felucca up the Nile River to Basma Island. The lunch cruise is operated between October and April and the staff of the felucca is dressed in traditional garb. Guests will even be provided with the traditional loose fitting galabeyas that will keep them cool as they enjoy a buffet lunch and barbeque grill upon arriving on the island. They can bake their own pita bread on a traditional Egyptian clay stove to get a truly unique taste of Egyptian life and once they have enjoyed their lunch they are free to tour the island and take in the sites. Guests who miss out on the Basma Island luncheon can still enjoy great food right at the hotel. The Lotus Restaurant is a 4-star establishment that serves an international buffet as well as ala carte items. The Garden Terrace overlooks the Nile’s West Bank and serves dishes from the Lotus. The Roof Top Terrace is located on the roof of the hotel and offers guests views of the river and the city below while serving food and drinks. The Nubian Bar is a relaxed establishment that serves cocktails and snacks. It can be reserved for large parties and special occasions. The Pool Bar is located at the pool and is an open air establishment. They serve drinks and a pool menu, and, like the Nubian Bar, can be reserved for parties and other special events. The Lobby Bar is located on the third floor and includes a snooker table for guests to enjoy while serving drinks and snacks. The Vienna Café serves coffees, pastries and other beverages. Finally, the Ali Baba Tent is a unique dining establishment. The large authentically decorated tent is set up on the grounds of the Basma Hotel and offers guests a buffet-style barbeque as well as local entertainment. Arabic coffee and shisha is served after dinner, providing guests with an unforgettable evening that must be experienced.

Activities

Egypt is a land filled with unique sights, traditional bazaars, and wonderful climates. Aswan is close to some of the country’s most well known sights for guests who want to see these ancient wonders and learn more about them. The Temple of Edfu is sixty kilometers north of Aswan while the Temple of Kom Ombo is four kilometers up the river on the eastern bank. The Temple of Philae and the unfinished Obelisk are all close to the hotel and the Nubian Museum is right across the street from the Basma. In addition to these historical sites, visitors can take the one kilometer walk into Aswan and enjoy the many different things the city offers. Bazaars, cafes, and other establishments are there for guests to enjoy and there is also a small shopping arcade at the hotel itself. While at the hotel, guests can enjoy the large heated swimming pool and the Mediterranean gardens in which they can wander.
