About Arabian Nights

In keeping with Zanzibar tradition, he has built a lodge that looks traditionally Zanzibari, but Arabian Nights Zanzibar has additional creature comforts like a larger lodge. This means you get the quiet intimacy, but also have the luxuries and creature comforts. Do not expect a 5 star European Lodge, but rather a very comfortable, clean and well run guesthouse, situated right on top of one of the most magnificent beaches in Zanzibar.

Decor is a combination of western and Zanzibari. The rooms have been tiled with beautiful Italian tiles and the interiors are pleasing on the eye. Mohammed also owns the largest dive centre on Paje Beach, so if you are a keen diver, then this would be absolutely perfect.

They have a lovely little restaurant which serves a variety of very well prepared meals, ranging from traditional Zanzibar to western. If you get tired of the food, there are plenty of places within walking distance to go and eat or enjoy a night out.

In summary, a fantastic little guesthouse in an idyllic location.

Rooms at Arabian Nights

There are a total of 8 rooms, 4 sea front and 4 standard. The interiors classically styled in a combination of western and Zanzibari. The sea front rooms are about 15 meters from the Arabian Nights Zanzibar Rooms beach, and as far as we are aware, these are the closest rooms to the ocean in Zanzibar. Having a look at the pictures, you will see that they have beautiful glass and wooden doors opening out on to the ocean. The sea front rooms are most recommended, but if you are on a budget, the standard rooms have exactly the same interiors, only no sea view.

All rooms have standing fans, air-conditioning (which is very refreshing in the heat) minibar, double beds (2 rooms have twin beds), shower and satellite television. Added to this, the rooms have baths, which is highly unusual in Zanzibar, and a shower.

These are by far the most comfortable and well equipped guesthouse rooms on the island.

Dining

The restaurant has been built above the reception and dive centre and provides food prepared by their local chef. Meals range from traditional Zanzibar food to western cuisine. They also serve a good variety of seafood dishes which are recommended. If you want to try something different, there are a large variety of places to choose from in the area.

Very positive. Zanzibar and the hotel and all the people there was very friendly.

The hotel was just what we were looking for. I am glad that we went to the East coast

Where there is not such a lot of tourists.

Thank you again.

Hi Melinda,

Thank you – the holiday was great!! Quite a differentexperience from Mauritius (x2) and Maldives (x1) but we still enjoyed it.

African Encounters

From making enquiries to the booking, collection of travel docs, Melinda’s call about the Air Tanzania cancellation to making new flight arrangements and extending the hotel bookings.

Arabian Nights

Once settled into our room everything else went smoothly. The people are very friendly, the beach and weather amazing!

The manager even loaned me his watch (when my cellphone was damaged) and gave me a reading book!! They even sent someone to wake us up (“wake-up call”) because the Hotel’s phones did not work!

Tours

We took the Spice & Stone Town Tours – very interesting! Was a bit shocked when we saw Stone Town – such a beautiful ancient town but VERY NEGLECTED!

We also really enjoyed the Safari Blue Tour – the tour operators were all very friendly and the food was GREAT!!

(although, I must just mention that the roads in Zanzibar are HORRIFIC!!)

Air Tanzania Refund

I have already received two e-mails from African Encounters re the progress of the Air Tanzania refunds, so we are still waiting!!
