The hotel

Mapenzi Beach Club is located near Matemwe on the map. It is about an hour's drive out of Stone Town. Being a lot cheaper than many of the other resorts on the East Coast, we feel that this resort is definitely value for money. Located a little distance away from other hotels, you are able to enjoy a large degree of privacy. Also built in traditional Zanzibari style, with a huge thatched "makuti roof" and coral walls, it makes quite an impressive sight when you enter for the first time. The rooms are comfortable and clean, whilst the food is  fantastic. The main dining room is situated quite high up and you have wonderful views of the ocean. Next to the dining room is the main pub, where you will get the same views before eating a wonderful dinner. Most rooms have a view of the ocean. Only a couple do not, and they have views of the gardens which are well maintained. We recommend that you stay in the sea front cottages, as they are right on the beach. If you are wanting to dive, the hotel does not have any of it's own facilities but they are able to organise any of your dive needs with other nearby hotels.

We must add that this is one of the few all inclusive hotels we feature on our website. The accommodation price includes all drinks (alcoholic and soft), certain water sports and food.

The rooms
The rooms are reasonably basic but extremely comfortable. Each room has en-suite facilities, a hairdryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, telephone and safe deposit box. The beds all have mosquito nets for guests safety. The beach front rooms have a fantastic verandah where you can sit and relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. Although a bit more expensive, these rooms are definitely worthwhile. The decor is traditional East African and they are very well maintained.
