Migration
Camp is located in the Lobo area close to the Kenyan
border. It is a very seasonal camp as it is
strategically positioned on the Grumeti River and lies
in the middle of the migration path of animals going
into Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The best time to stay
in the camp is from the end of May to the end of July.
This is a tented camp which the owners are trying to
market as luxury. We do feel that the camp is intimate and
is a wonderful place to stay, but it does not fall into
the luxury class. We noted a couple of problems like
holes in some of the tents but were prepared to overlook
this purely because of the romance of the location and
superb setting of the camp. The camp is positioned on a
hill overlooking the Grumeti River. At night you can
hear the hippos in the pools below bellowing their calls
and during the day many animals gather in the confounds
of the camp to graze. It is quite spectacular. One
of the great things about the camp is the evenings at
the campfire. The managers certainly do their best to
make sure that guests have a great bush experience. When
you depart to your tent at night you are escorted by an
askari (Maasai guard) which adds to the bush experience.

rooms |
There are 21 permanent
tents of which we know that 3 have been damaged for some
time by
baboons. The top section of tents are built on wooden
stilts and overlook the Grumeti River. One of the most
enjoyable moments for us was to sit in the morning and
enjoy our coffee on the veranda whilst watching giraffe
grazing within 20 meters of us. The tents are very
comfortable all with en suite facilities. The
honeymoon tent is amazing with a huge bath outside where you can lie and enjoy yourself underneath the
stars in complete privacy. |
