The hotel
What can we say, this place is absolutely amazing, possibly the best lodge in Tanzania. Selected by Conde Naste as one of the top 23 new hotels of the world in 1997, you know it has to be good. Along with this recognition, the lodge is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. It is well positioned on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater and provides spectacular views of the wildlife below. To compliment this spectacular view, each room has it's own butler who will stoke your fireplace and even draw your bath and scatter it with rose petals. You know when you are staying here that luxury is the main theme. The lodge has been designed to blend in with the surroundings with a Maasai look. Large round chimneys can be seen as you approach the lodge from the main road and make the place look even more impressive. The living areas are spectacular with romantic fireplaces, decks overlooking the crater below and leather high-backed chairs for you to sit and relax. We unfortunately cannot put the experience of staying here into words, you will have to experience it for yourself.

The rooms

There are 2 camps, north and south, each with 12 suites and Tree Camp which has 6 suites. From the picture you can see that this is opulent luxury. Decorated in handcrafted structures  and graceful antiques including chandeliers. All your personal needs are catered for by your own personal butler. The sumptuous colonial-style interiors combine silver, gold and ruby colours under banana-leaf ceilings and grass roofs. Crystal chandeliers hang above large gilt mirrors reflecting carved Zanzibar wall paneling decorated with gold leaf. Huge bowls filled with long-stemmed red roses complement the Persian carpets and velvet bedspreads. Antiques, plump cushions, voluptuous raw silk curtains and tall, leather-backed chairs complete the picture. This opulent design blends with African art elements in unexpected harmony. Each room has it's own magnificent view of the crater where you can sit and relax in front of the fireplace. All rooms are en suite with antique baths overlooking the crater adding to the romantic atmosphere.

It is magnificent!
